Our client approached us with a desire to make more of the existing conservatory and kitchen, dining area of this detached house, first built in the 1990s within a central Chelmsford location. The client felt the existing kitchen arrangement was restrictive to family use and the conservatory was used merely as a thoroughfare to the rear garden, without ever truly being used for the purpose for which it was intended.


We proposed the removal of the conservatory and erection of a 3m rear extension to house a light-filled dining/day room, open to a re-positioned kitchen and newly created family space. The client was keen for the proposed aesthetic to blend with the existing building and surrounding area. The proposal was submitted to the Local Authority under a Permitted Development Application.
