Our client was a young family who moved into a new-build home in Langford, Essex in 2015. Located on the outskirts of Maldon the site sits wholly within the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation Conservation Area and whilst the existing dwelling boasted ample living accommodation, the existing configuration created division with the kitchen, dining and playroom sited in opposing quarters of the house.

Studio Forty was therefore tasked with design and delivery of a single-storey contemporary rear extension that brings the living accommodation together, enabling the family to enjoy improved time together.

 

Given the sensitive nature of the site Studio Forty sought prior engagement with the Local Authority and we are very proud to have achieved a successful consent at the first time of asking.
